The station fire devastated the Angeles crest forest in 2009.  Arson was suspected and the fire that started on August 26, 2009.  The fire raged on and scorched 160,577 acres before finally being extinguished in October of 2009.  Now one year after the fire and the destruction still remains. Bare hillsides and the burned skeletons of a forest.

Last weekend a friend and I attempted to hike to Millard Falls above Pasadena.  Millard Falls is the perfect day hike and a relatively easy hike of less than a mile.  Once you  reach the base of  the falls you will see a beautiful 60 foot waterfall.

At least that was the plan.

Because of the station fire and some recent mudslide damage the trail is closed to the public.   It is set to reopen sometime in September and at that point you can add it to your list of awesome day hikes.  Until then we can only imagine what the falls may look like.
