The Ernie Pantoja Trail located within the park provides a nice hike for great views of the entire campground. This short hike is about one mile long.
My favorite campsites best for privacy are 47,48,50 and 52. Many of the lower numbered campsites (1-30) provide more shade but less privacy. I would avoid the campgrounds at the top of the hill (64-75) as they provide little privacy and little shade. However if you attend the park strictly for movie night at the community center these spots would be the closest to the community center where movies are shown during the summer.
Most campsites have plenty of shade under large oak trees although some spots have little or no shade. The campground is busy most weekends and caters towards families. Camping during the week is very peaceful as the campground is nearly empty most weekdays.
If you were looking for a campground to throw wild parties and create a bunch of noise this would not be an appropriate spot. Most rangers are friendly but all rules and regulations are enforced.
Recently cabins have been added to campground but are not yet available to be rented. At the time of this writing the campground charges $19 per night for tent camping.
