This past weekend we went camping at Green Mountain Reservoir. It was a fun adventure with our Camping Fantastic meetup group. One thing that I really liked about this campground is that each site is very large and can accommodate many vehicles and people. Most sites can actually accommodate 10-15 people and some large sites can accommodate 30 people. Not a bad deal when single sites are only $13 per night and double sites are $26 per night. We stayed in the Cow Creek South area.
If you are looking for a campground destination you can pre-book, only 2 hours outside of Denver I would suggest Green Mountain Reservoir. The only downside would be that most sites have little shade and the water levels at the lake were low at this time. There are other sites within the area, especially on the other side of the reservoir that provide more shade.
